DirecTV Sat-Go is a Tailgate Hit

I don’t know about you, but setting up a DirecTV tripod on a hot August day sounds about as fun as a ride through Jersey’s Turnpike. Instead, you can now just pop up DirecTV’s Sat-Go, and start watching crisp Digital in minutes with this nifty tailgate gadget!

The Sat-Go system includes a removable 17-inch LCD monitor with an integrated satellite receiver, laptop-style battery, remote control and antenna. The best part about this is that it comes all built into a 27-pound briefcase, with the lid acting as the antenna.

Setting it Up. The system can be placed on any flat surface, and we recommend a sturdy tailgating table. As with any DirecTV installation, the antenna requires an unobstructed view of the southern sky to acquire its signal. Then you simple open the latches, and raise the TV to its upright position. After that, simple locate your signal using the handy compass incorporated into the briefcase, and you are off!

The Good

• On-demand stats and other features available with sports packages

The Bad

• Reception can still be a little bit hard to hit if you have trees and leaves in the way
• Direct Sunlight can make it hard to see (sorry high-tech beach goers)
• Battery only lasts about 1 hour (cigarette lighter adapter is the best power option)

The Ugly

• $999 is a pretty swift kick to the wallet for 6 (college) to 8 (NFL) home games

Features to take it to the next level

• Adding DVR capabilities and stepping it up to HD would really give this high tech tailgating gadget a kick!
