Steak Station: Monitor Four Steaks At Once

Steak StationAs far as I’m concerned, you can split “grill masters” into two categories. Those that love gadgets, and those that really love gadgets. The Steak Station ($23) is a great little device that any “grill master” will love. It can monitor four steaks at the same time, allowing those commanding the grill to confidently cook multiple steaks, and attend to more pressing matters, like taking down a cold beer. The colorful Steak Station probes measure from 115°F to 170°F, indicating a complete spectrum of doneness while helping you remember whose steak is whose. The adjustable foldout kickstand on the back pops out into various positions, and it feels very sturdy when sitting on the grill.

Designed for cooking in the trenches during a hectic tailgate when the crowd is clamoring for steaks of all different doneness, the no-nonsense interface makes grilling them about as easy as it can be.

The only feature that we would like to see in the future is a numerical read out of the current internal temperature.

Tailgate Beer Brats (Bratwursts)

Tailgate Beer Brats

We want to give a big thank you to Milly from Philly for sending in this recipe (yes, that’s her real name, we just made it rhyme). It’s no secret that bratwursts and beer are quite fond of one another, and there is perhaps no greater tailgate food than Beer Brats. Below is a different take from the traditional fashion. The prep work would have to be done the night before the tailgate for this recipe to really boom.

Note: This recipe is intended for 6-8 brats.

Marinade Ingredients
1 12 oz. bottle of a pale ale beer
1 tablespoon minced garlic

The Perfect Fantasy Football Draft Setup

Perfect Fantasy Football Draft Setup

Over the weekend, we held a fantasy football draft for one of my leagues in perhaps the ultimate drafting scenario. I’m talking a screening room with over 150” of screen real estate, power reclining chairs, FanDraft 2010, and an ESPN-style ticker. Unfortunately, my iPhone camera did not do this setup justice. And for those of you who have yet to discover FanDraft, I can’t recommend it enough. This is my second year with the product, and I won’t conduct a live draft without. It keeps your draft organized, and running on time…err, ok so there is no such thing that can keep a live draft going on time, unless you figure a way to hook up FanDraft to the seat shocker.

SMU Mustang Trailer Takes New Shape

SMU Mustang Tailgating Trailer

After speaking with Robert Mims from Imagi-Motive a few weeks ago, I realized that they are way ahead of the curve when it comes to customizing tailgating vehicles. Take for instance, the SMU Tailgating Trailer, which is their newest model. In the past, tailgate trailers have always been designed around the standard box-trailer design. This is fine, if you are using the trailer to haul around some lawn mowers or a couple of Harleys. But when you want to use a space for a particular purpose, you need to start from scratch. Imagi-Motive has decided to forgo that old boxed-in design, and construct these trailers to spec. Some of the features of the SMU Tailgating Trailer shown above include a flat screen TV, satellite dish, surround speaker system, keg tap system, cup dispenser, wet bar, and swing-out grill.

Rawlings Inks Multi-Year Deal with NFL for Tailgating Products

Rawlings LogoRawlings Sporting Goods® is reporting that they’ve signed an exclusive multi-year deal with the National Football League for NFL-branded tailgating products, including tent canopies, grills, and chairs.

New York Tailgate GearThis will basically consolidate the NFL’s tailgate rights landscape under such quality brands such as Coleman®, Rawlings®, Bicycle® and Shakespeare®. The new tailgate collection, which in addition to canopies, grills and chairs will include a number of non-exclusive tailgate products, including coolers, stadium seats and footballs, will merchandise under the new TLG8™ brand umbrella and its “Real Brands for Real Fans™” tagline. The collection is set to launch April 2011, aimed at creating a “one-stop shop” for all NFL tailgating needs.

Although this could be a great thing for tailgaters, it could potential put an end to many Ma and Pa tailgating shops. I guess we’ll have to see how it all plays out when the deal kicks into play in 2011.

Jägermeister shots are a great tailgating party starter, but keeping your Jäger truly cold has always been a chore. The Jägermeister 6-Bottle Cooler punches that issue square in the mouth. As the name implies, this cooler holds 6 bottles of Jägermeister, with two of them connected to the built-in tap dispenser for easy shot pouring. The Extreme Tailgating Bus by Imagi-Motive

Extreme Tailgating Bus

The word extreme gets tossed around a little too liberally these days. It’s been overused to the point where it’s meaning is totally lost. If you don’t believe me, just think back and remember the band Extreme.

Well, our good friends at Imagi-Motive are ready to bring back the true meaning of the word extreme with their Extreme Tailgating Bus. If you can find another bus with electric gull doors on the back of it, you’re getting a free keg on us. This bus has been redone from the ground up, and no expense was spared. Besides the gull doors, which provide open air grilling for its high tech kitchen, features include a two keg system with interior and exterior taps and a total of 3 giant flat screen TV’s.

There is no real way of doing this bus justice without a long list of its features along with some pictures, see the full story to check them out.
